Kazakhstan says Yandex personal-data servers remain operational

Yandex servers holding Kazakh users’ personal data are working normally despite service disruptions, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development said on October 11.

The ministry said the servers are located within Kazakhstan. However, some components needed to operate taxi and delivery services are based abroad, so local data storage does not make the platform independent of its overseas infrastructure.

Yandex is restoring affected services. The ministry said it was coordinating with the company and Kazakh infrastructure operators to provide support. It is also working with other taxi and delivery platforms to improve resilience as demand increases.

The statement addresses the status of local data-storage servers rather than announcing a full recovery of customer services. Yandex has said access is gradually returning, while some functions remain restricted.
