Kotyakov highlights internship rules taking effect in March 2027

Russia’s Labour Code will formally recognize workplace internships from March 1, 2027, Labour and Social Protection Minister Anton Kotyakov told RIA Novosti on October 9.
Kotyakov said the changes are intended to help young applicants start work in their chosen profession. Graduates often lack the practical skills needed to find employment quickly, he said. Internships are meant to bridge education and professional work.
The effective date is already set by Federal Law No. 246-FZ of July 26, 2026. The minister’s statement therefore concerns implementation of an existing law rather than new legislation adopted in October.
The amendments establish specific employment rules for workers undergoing internships. They take effect next year, so the announcement does not immediately change graduates’ employment conditions.
