K. T. Rama Rao seeks judicial inquiry into electoral roll revision

Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K. T. Rama Rao called on India’s Supreme Court on October 9 to order an independent investigation into alleged irregularities in electoral roll revision. He also demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

In a social media post, Rao said India’s Constitution was supreme and no citizen should be deprived of the right to vote. He argued that protecting an individual official could not take precedence over the institution that official serves or the rights of the country’s citizens.

Rao urged the court to consider the matter on its own initiative. His demand concerns the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR, of electoral rolls. He wants a serving judge to lead an independent examination of the alleged irregularities.

NDTV also reported BRS’s call for an inquiry, linking it to the party’s allegations of widespread voter deletions. Those accusations are BRS’s claims. A demand for an investigation does not mean the court has already ordered one or found that violations occurred.
