Kuban resident loses 2.82 million rubles in online car purchase
Police in Russia's Krasnodar region are investigating a complaint from a 55-year-old Ladogskaya resident who paid 2.82 million rubles for a car from China but never received it.
The regional Interior Ministry directorate said the man found an advertisement online, Business FM reported on October 11. A contact posing as a commercial company's employee offered him a 2020 Lexus NX 200.
The buyer transferred two million rubles for the car, then another 820,000 rubles supposedly for customs clearance. After receiving the money, the seller stopped answering calls and messages.
The complainant also told the 112 channel that he was asked for an additional 400,000 rubles for missing documents. No payment of that further sum was reported.
Police are identifying those involved and considering whether to open a criminal case.
