Kuznetsova returns to Tennis Hall of Fame ballot
Svetlana Kuznetsova has been nominated for the International Tennis Hall of Fame's class of 2027. The Russian is on the ballot for a second consecutive year.
Former world number one Ash Barty of Australia and Argentina's 2009 US Open champion Juan Martín del Potro are also nominated in the player category. Japan's four-time Paralympic champion Shingo Kunieda is nominated in the wheelchair category.
Fan voting runs until October 25. Its results add percentage points to candidates' totals from a panel of tennis journalists, historians and Hall of Famers. Election requires at least 75%, including those bonuses.
Kuznetsova and del Potro were also candidates for the class of 2026 but did not reach the required threshold.
Kuznetsova, 41, won the 2004 US Open and 2009 French Open singles titles, plus the Australian Open doubles titles in 2005 and 2012. She collected 18 singles and 16 doubles WTA titles.
The elected Hall of Famers will be announced later this autumn.
