Kyiv announces temporary lowering of main flag amid wind warning

Kyiv's administration announced on October 9 that Ukraine's main flag would be temporarily lowered because of adverse weather. Wind gusts of 15–20 metres per second were forecast through the end of the day.

Officials cited a yellow, first-level weather warning and said the flag would remain lowered until conditions improved. No precise restoration time was given.

The flag stands near the Motherland monument. The administration said its pole is almost 90 metres high and the fabric measures 16 by 24 metres. The decision was weather-related.

TSN also reported the hydrometeorological centre's gust warning for Kyiv and the surrounding region. The figures refer to forecast gusts rather than sustained wind speed.
