Peskov describes Putin’s response to US de-escalation proposals

Vladimir Putin showed understanding of some US proposals aimed at reducing tensions over Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on October 10. He did not disclose the specific steps involved.
Peskov was commenting on Putin’s telephone conversation with Donald Trump on the evening of October 9, initiated by the US side. The Kremlin spokesman said most of the discussion concerned a settlement over Ukraine.
The description does not announce a specific agreement or a change in the conflict’s terms. Peskov’s quoted comments did not list the measures the leaders discussed.
After the call, Trump separately said an agreement had been reached on Russian diesel supplies to US and global markets. He referred to more than 300,000 tonnes immediately and another 500,000 tonnes in November.
The US president also suggested a later increase of another million tonnes and supplies of up to three million tonnes within a short period. Those figures describe Trump’s statements about plans, rather than fuel already delivered.
