Matthews matches Bure with 436 goals through 700 NHL games

Auston Matthews scored his 436th NHL regular-season goal in his 700th game, drawing level with Pavel Bure. The Toronto forward and Bure share sixth place for goals through that many appearances.

Toronto said Wayne Gretzky led the list with 589 goals through 700 games, followed by Mario Lemieux with 580, Mike Bossy with 542, Brett Hull with 504 and Jari Kurri with 454.

Matthews marked the milestone appearance with a second-period goal and an assist in Toronto’s 6-2 victory over Columbus.

His goal proved to be the winner, the 68th game-winning goal of his career. The comparison with Bure covers regular-season games and excludes the playoffs.
