Magnitogorsk won 3-0 in a KHL game led by acting head coach Vladimir Vorobyov.
Nikita Mikhailis, Nathan Todd and Vladimir Tkachev scored for Metallurg. It was goaltender Egor Zavragin’s first shutout for the club, the KHL said.
Andrei Razin was temporarily relieved of his duties on Oct. 6. Club director Alexei Zhloba had said disagreements arose between the coach and players. After the win, Vorobyov said the team remained in contact with Razin but was focused on preparing for its next game.
Metallurg has 21 points from 14 games and leads the Eastern Conference. The club is scheduled to play Salavat Yulaev Ufa on Oct. 9.
