Metropolitan Tikhon added to Ukraine’s wanted database

Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea has been added to Ukraine’s Interior Ministry wanted database at the Security Service of Ukraine’s initiative, RIA Novosti reported on 9 October.

The cleric’s entry lists him as a person evading investigation and gives 5 September 2026 as the date of disappearance. According to the agency, representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine entered the information.

Tikhon, whose secular name is Georgy Shevkunov, is a bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church. In September, the SBU announced that it had brought charges against him in absentia. The wanted listing follows that procedural decision.

TASS also reported the database entry, as reflected in a report by Vzglyad. Media accounts said the earlier charges concerned, among other things, public support for Russia. Investigators’ assertions remain allegations, and a wanted listing does not establish guilt in court.
