Nikitin says Moscow’s Leningradsky station is ready for future high-speed line

Moscow’s Leningradsky railway station is ready to serve passengers on the future Moscow–St Petersburg high-speed line, Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin told President Vladimir Putin on October 13.
The minister said reconstruction had tripled the station’s seating capacity. A Transport Ministry announcement also listed baggage belts, modern navigation systems and the technical capability to conduct checks using biometrics.
The station reopened after reconstruction in May 2026. Nikitin’s latest report concerns readiness for future high-speed services. It does not mean trains have already begun operating on the new railway.
The line between Moscow and St Petersburg is scheduled to launch in 2028. The stated journey time is two hours and 15 minutes. The president’s meeting with the minister also covered other transport projects, accessibility of services and training for the industry’s workforce.
