Mysuru orders banned single-use plastics removed from Dasara venues
Mysuru municipal authorities have instructed Dasara 2026 venues to stop using banned single-use plastic items. The guidelines apply to organisers, traders, visitors and tourists.
The restrictions cover the food festival, flower show, cultural programmes and sporting events. Organisers must ensure compliance at food stalls and other shops.
Plastic cups, spoons and expanded-polystyrene products should be replaced with reusable utensils and environmentally friendly alternatives. The municipality identified areca-leaf plates as one option.
Traders have been urged to encourage cloth bags, while visitors are advised to bring reusable water bottles to reduce waste.
Authorities also require wet and dry waste to be separated before it is handed to sanitation workers. Dumping rubbish in drains or public places is prohibited.
The municipality said it would conduct regular inspections across the city. Non-compliance will bring action under the applicable rules. The announcement did not specify fine amounts.
