Northern Fleet practises marine landing in Dudinka port exercise

Russia’s Northern Fleet practised a marine landing and the reopening of Dudinka’s seaport during an Arctic exercise, the fleet’s press service said in a statement reported on October 12.

The scenario involved an armed group taking control of the port. The reported operation was a training episode, rather than an actual seizure of the facility.

A Ka-29 helicopter from the patrol ship Ivan Papanin delivered a marine assault group to the designated area, according to the fleet’s account carried by Interfax.

The landing ship Kondopoga approached the bank of the Yenisei River and deployed DT-10PN Vityaz tracked vehicles carrying marines and military engineers. The episode took place during the final stage of the fleet group’s stay on the Taimyr Peninsula, PortNews reported.
