Oliver Glasner returns to Crystal Palace with Nottingham Forest

On Sunday, the manager will return to Selhurst Park for the first time since leaving Palace. He spoke about the difficult decision to leave Crystal Palace and why taking the Nottingham Forest job was not a planned career move.

At 52, Glasner is returning to a club where he spent more than two successful years and won three trophies: the FA Cup, the Conference League and the Community Shield. He said the return brings mixed emotions and hopes Palace supporters will remember the joy of those wins rather than only the dispute over the club’s European place.

Glasner said he decided not to renew his Palace contract in October 2025. His move to Forest in summer 2026 came 40 days after the Conference League final and was a separate, unplanned step. He also recalled that Palace reached the competition after being moved down from the Europa League following Forest’s complaint over multi-club ownership rules.

The match at Selhurst Park is scheduled for October 11. The Premier League’s official fixture list confirms Crystal Palace will host Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Glasner said he did not want to become the centre of the discussion around the game. He also recalled asking Palace fans to stay humble in February, after the team had won only one of 15 matches. Palace had also gone winless in Glasner’s first eight league games in charge.
