Former Argentina striker Omar da Fonseca says the 2026 Ballon d’Or should go to Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamal. The award ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 26 in London.
Da Fonseca gave his view on RMC’s sports radio show, Sport-Express reported. He said Yamal’s performances stir strong emotions in him and that the Spanish forward should win the award.
The 2026 Ballon d’Or nominees were announced on Sept. 8. The prize covers the season from Aug. 1, 2025, through July 31, 2026. Da Fonseca’s comments are his personal prediction, not the result of the vote. Sports outlet Foot Africa also reported that the commentator had named Yamal as his pick.
