Kerala authorities inspect shops after complaints of overcharging

Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology officials carried out joint inspections in Payyoli and Perambra. They found irregularities at four establishments and gave shops without displayed price lists three days to put them up.

The inspections followed complaints that traders were charging excessive prices. In Payyoli, officials checked 22 establishments, including 14 hotels and eight grocery shops. Notices were issued to four shops where irregularities were found.

Officials said shops that had not displayed price lists were directed to put them up within three days. In nearby Perambra, teams inspected eight shops and a cinema theatre.

The inspections were led by S.K. Sajitha, Koyilandy Taluk Supply Officer. She was accompanied by Legal Metrology Inspector Sheeja Adiyodi and rationing inspectors M. Sreeju, Sreenivasan Puliyullathil and S. Sunil Kumar.
