Patrushev discusses shipbuilding training with Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Nikolai Patrushev discussed cooperation with Russian universities during a visit to Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. Russia’s Maritime Board reported the meeting on October 9.

The talks covered training specialists for shipbuilding and the maritime sector. According to the board, the sides also discussed cooperation with Russian research institutes and joint scientific projects.

Patrushev attended as an aide to the Russian president and chair of the Maritime Board. Interfax also reported his visit to the university in Shanghai and the discussion of educational cooperation.

The board’s press service identified mechanical engineering, shipbuilding and ocean engineering as areas of strength at Jiao Tong. It said the institution ranked among the world’s top 100 universities and China’s top nine, without identifying a particular ranking. The statement described discussions of cooperation rather than the signing of an agreement.
