Peskov says Putin conveyed Iran’s position on resolving conflict to Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed Iran’s view of a possible resolution to the conflict to US President Donald Trump with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s agreement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on October 10.
Peskov said Putin had met Pezeshkian twice on the sidelines of summits in Turkmenistan before the call with the US president. During one of those meetings, the Russian leader informed his Iranian counterpart about the forthcoming conversation.
The contacts included a bilateral meeting between the Russian and Iranian presidents and a three-way meeting involving Azerbaijan’s leader. They took place alongside the Commonwealth of Independent States summit and the Caspian Environmental Summit.
Peskov described the transmission of Iran’s position as a subsequent step following those discussions. His announcement concerned the communication of Tehran’s views to Washington rather than the conclusion of a settlement agreement.
