Peskov says Putin received some US de-escalation proposals with understanding

Vladimir Putin received some US proposals aimed at de-escalating the conflict in Ukraine with understanding during his call with Donald Trump, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on October 10.
Peskov told reporters that the presidents had spoken by telephone the previous evening. According to his account, Trump initiated an extended discussion of a possible settlement in Ukraine, which occupied most of the call.
The spokesman referred to some American proposals, rather than describing agreement on the entire US position. His statement did not announce a ceasefire or a concluded settlement.
The comments provide the Kremlin’s account of Putin’s response to proposals discussed during the call. They add to the diplomatic discussion between the Russian and US presidents about steps towards reducing the conflict.
