Police deployment disrupts PTI meeting plans in Swabi, Dawn reports

A planned PTI workers' meeting in Swabi's Shewa Adda area did not take place on October 11, 2026 after emergency measures and governor's rule were imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dawn reported.

Sohail Afridi had been expected to address supporters there on Sunday evening. Some party leaders subsequently urged workers to gather at the Razaar Sports Complex, the newspaper said.

Police sources told Dawn that officers patrolled Shewa Adda and nearby areas to prevent a gathering. The report also described raids intended to arrest PTI workers, but did not provide a confirmed number of people detained in Swabi.

Additional officers were stationed at Karnal Sher Khan Chowk and along the Islamabad–Peshawar motorway. The Express Tribune separately reported heavy police deployments in Shewa Adda and other parts of Swabi.

The local disruption followed the wider political confrontation over the suspension of the PTI-led provincial administration. The reports do not establish a new date for the cancelled meeting.
