Investigative Committee seeks report on shooting of teenager in New Moscow

Russia’s Investigative Committee chief Alexander Bastrykin requested a report on the investigation into a shooting that injured a 17-year-old in New Moscow, the agency said on October 13.
Media reports said the teenager confronted motorcyclists over traffic violations in the settlement of Znamya Oktyabrya. During the ensuing conflict, he was allegedly shot near the eye with an air pistol and taken to hospital.
Investigators opened a criminal case under Article 213 of Russia’s Criminal Code, which concerns hooliganism. The reported circumstances of the confrontation remain part of the investigation.
Bastrykin instructed Dmitry Belyayev, head of the committee’s Moscow investigative directorate, to report on the case’s progress. Compliance with the instruction is being monitored by the agency’s central office.
The announcement did not provide an updated medical assessment, identify the alleged attackers or report a court verdict.
