Prosecutors seek seizure of 75 million roubles in Trunov gang case

Prosecutors in Russia’s Novosibirsk region have asked a court to declare the Trunov criminal community an extremist organisation and ban its activities. They also seek confiscation of assets valued at about 75 million roubles.
The claim was submitted to Novosibirsk’s Tsentralny District Court. Defendants include former leader Alexander Trunov and other people previously convicted in cases involving the group. The requested extremist designation and asset seizure remain matters for the court to decide.
RIA Novosti reported the value of the property sought by prosecutors, citing regional law enforcement sources. Kommersant also reported the approximately 75-million-rouble claim and said the assets include apartments and land.
The gang operated from the late 1980s into the 2000s. Authorities reported dismantling it in 2009. Its members were convicted of offences including murder, banditry, grievous bodily harm and illegal dealings in weapons.
Trunov is serving a 22-year sentence. Another senior figure, Anatoly Radchenko, received a term of 23.5 years. Those criminal sentences are separate from the newly reported request for an extremist designation and confiscation.
