Indian Railways cancels some Delhi-bound trains over congestion concerns

Mail and Express trains due at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations between 4 a.m. and 2 p.m. on October 10 will be cancelled at their originating stations. Indian Railways cited expected severe road congestion around the terminals.

The restriction applies to trains leaving their starting stations after 2 p.m. on Friday, October 9, and scheduled to reach Delhi on Saturday morning. The railway order was issued on October 9. Passengers whose trains are affected should check the service status and refund options with the operator.

The decision was attributed to expected traffic congestion on roads near the two stations. It coincides with a planned protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, but railway officials have not confirmed that the cancellations are connected to the demonstration.

Hindustan Times and NDTV have also reported the cancellations and cited traffic concerns. The order covers Mail and Express trains, not every railway service to Delhi.
