Russia opens 215-hour online statistics quiz

Russia's statistics agency Rosstat opened its online statistics quiz on October 13. Participants can take it until noon Moscow time on October 22, deputy agency head Mikhail Afonin said.

The 215-hour participation window marks the 215th anniversary of Russian state statistics. The quiz is available at sd.rosstat.gov.ru, and participants can choose a convenient time within that window.

The school version has 15 questions and a 40-minute time limit. The adult version contains 30 questions, with an hour allowed for completion. Tasks cover statistical history and methodology as well as problem-solving.

More than 97,000 people participated in 2025, Afonin said. Almost 59,500 scored above 60%. The share of participants scoring above 80% increased from 11% in 2024 to 31% in 2025.

Participants in last year's event had an average age of almost 28. Afonin said school pupils and university students showed the strongest interest in taking the quiz.
