Russia’s defence ministry reports drone strikes on two cargo ships

Russia’s defence ministry reported drone strikes on two cargo ships near Ukrainian ports. The ministry said the vessels were carrying supplies for Ukraine’s armed forces.
According to the statement carried by RBC, one cargo ship was hit in the port of Chornomorsk. The Russian ministry said it was carrying dual-use cargo. It said the second vessel was attacked while sailing towards Odesa with military supplies.
On October 8, the ministry also reported a drone strike on a cargo ship heading for Chornomorsk. It said that vessel was transporting supplies for the Ukrainian military. Interfax separately carried the ministry’s report about that earlier strike.
The RBC report did not identify the vessels, their flags, the extent of damage or any casualties. The descriptions of their cargo come from the Russian defence ministry. The publication contains no confirmation of those descriptions from shipowners or Ukrainian port authorities.
