Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces inspect Vladimir formation

The Vladimir missile formation is undergoing a scheduled comprehensive inspection that includes a command-and-staff exercise. Russia’s Defense Ministry said the drills involve fixed and mobile missile units, including Yars systems.

The inspection is part of the Strategic Missile Forces’ 2026 training plan and is being led by force commander Sergei Karakayev. The Defense Ministry said support units and formations attached from the Moscow Military District are also taking part in practical tasks.

Autonomous mobile launchers have been sent along combat patrol routes during the exercise. Yars crews are rehearsing marches, dispersing missile divisions and moving to field positions. The programme also includes operations in areas deemed contaminated, engineering work on positions, camouflage and security.

Army aviation and Strategic Missile Forces drone units are being used to survey vehicle routes and search for simulated sabotage teams. The ministry said the exercise is intended to improve coordination among military command bodies. It said commanders would assess staff readiness and the training of missile crews after the inspection.
