Russia tops Tashkent Swimming World Cup medal table

Russia finished with 20 medals, edging China on silver medals after both teams won five golds.

The Russian team collected five gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals at the short-course Swimming World Cup meeting that ended in Tashkent on October 10. China placed second with five golds, two silvers and two bronzes. Belgium finished third with four golds, three silvers and two bronzes.

Egor Kornev accounted for two of Russia's victories, winning the 100-metre freestyle and the 50-metre butterfly.

Russia's other three golds came in breaststroke events. Evgeniia Chikunova won over 200 metres, Kirill Prigoda over 100 metres and Ralina Giliazova over 50 metres. The Russian swimmers competed under their national flag, with the country's anthem played for their victories.
