Russian and UN officials discuss AI at Moscow digital forum

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov met UN Deputy Secretary-General and Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies Amandeep Singh Gill on the sidelines of the II Global Digital Forum. The Russian Foreign Ministry said they discussed artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
The ministry said the meeting took place alongside the forum in Moscow. Bella Cherkesova, a deputy minister for digital development, communications and mass media, also attended.
According to the ministry, the officials discussed artificial intelligence and digital technologies. The Russian side expressed hope that the UN’s work in this area would remain oriented toward the interests of developing countries. The participants confirmed an agreement to continue regular contacts on a broad range of issues on the global digital agenda.
The II Global Digital Forum is taking place in Moscow from October 8 to 10. Its official programme lists both Alexander Alimov and Amandeep Singh Gill among the participants. The programme confirms their presence at the forum, while the meeting itself was reported by Russia’s Foreign Ministry. The ministry’s statement gave no specific agreements beyond continuing contacts.
