Russian-Arab summit will not take place this year, diplomat says

A separate Russian-Arab summit will not take place in 2026, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko said on October 14. He said the proposal remained on the agenda, but Moscow was seeking a suitable time.
Borisenko linked the timing to conditions in the Middle East. He said it would probably be necessary to wait for the situation to stabilise, while expressing hope that the summit plan would eventually be implemented.
Interfax also reported his reminder that a Russia-Africa summit was scheduled in Moscow at the end of October. Representatives of ten Arab League member states were expected there.
Those countries had also been invited to the previously planned Russian-Arab summit, he said. Participation in the Africa event is separate from convening a dedicated meeting with the Arab world. No new date was announced.
