Russian telecom operators report fewer dangerous calls in first nine months of 2026

Major Russian telecom operators recorded a decline in potentially dangerous calls in January–September 2026, RIA Novosti reported on October 10, citing company figures published by Izvestia.

Beeline reported 871 million potentially dangerous calls in the first nine months of the year. The operator said that was almost three times lower than in the corresponding period of 2025.

MTS Zashchitnik detected and blocked more than two billion scam and spam calls, a decline of 27%. MegaFon registered 253.4 million calls from fraudsters. The published comparison gives earlier totals for that operator of 581.9 million in 2025 and 1.2 billion in 2024.

Operators attributed the decline to new legislative measures and improvements in artificial-intelligence-based protection systems. The figures describe individual companies’ activity, including the detection and blocking of calls. They are not a count of fraud victims or a measure of the money stolen.
