A travel blogger who writes as “Not Like Here” on Zen visited Étretat and said September days can be busy, while the cliffs are almost empty in the morning.
The traveler said she went to Normandy hoping to explore the coast without rushing and, if possible, avoid crowds. In her account, visitor numbers fell by evening. She and a friend climbed to the cliffs in the morning and saw the natural Porte d’Aval arch with few other tourists around.
After 10 a.m., they visited the Étretat Gardens, known for sculptures shaped like human faces. The gardens’ official website lists daily September opening hours of 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The blogger recommended staying overnight to see the town in the morning and watch the sunset. She said the weather can change unpredictably, but that, in her view, the white cliffs and sea make the visit worthwhile.
