More than 400,000 people are registered as self-employed in Russia’s Samara region, a 13% increase since the start of the year, the regional government’s press service said.
Since the special tax regime was introduced in 2020, self-employed residents have earned a combined 217 billion roubles, paid 9.5 billion roubles in taxes and issued more than 208 million receipts.
Popular fields include repair and construction, transport, hairdressing and beauty services, and information technology. Regional Deputy Prime Minister and Economic Development and Investment Minister Pavel Fink said support includes training programmes, participation in fairs and assistance with selling products.
The region has created an online storefront featuring goods and services offered by self-employed workers. They can also obtain subsidised workspace at the My Business regional centre’s coworking facility and use meeting rooms and a hall for educational events. The support is provided under the national Effective and Competitive Economy project.
