Serov hospital raises injury count in bus collision to eight

Eight people were injured in a collision involving two scheduled buses in Russia’s Sverdlovsk region, Serov City Hospital said on October 9. Six were examined at a trauma clinic and two declined hospitalisation.
The hospital said the patients examined had minor bruises and abrasions, with no serious injuries. Traffic police had earlier reported that 5 passengers were taken for examination. The hospital’s later statement
The crash occurred at about four in the morning at kilometre 275 of the Yekaterinburg — Nizhny Tagil — Serov road in the Novaya Lyalya district. According to the traffic police’s preliminary account, a Yutong driver failed to keep a safe distance and collided with a Ford Transit ahead.
The two buses carried 23 passengers in total. The initial police report identified the injured people as Ford Transit passengers. The regional Investigative Committee opened a case over services that did not meet safety requirements. Prosecutors are also conducting an inquiry.
