Maharashtra holds special voter-registration drive

Campus registration ran through October 9. Additional polling-station camps are scheduled for October 10–11, with applications accepted until October 12.

Maharashtra’s Chief Electoral Officer has held voter-registration camps at colleges and universities from October 5 to 9 and arranged house-to-house checks ahead of the October 12 claims deadline. The drive is intended to help eligible people missing from the draft electoral roll apply for enrolment.

Booth Level Officers have assisted students at the campus camps with applications and questions about the Special Intensive Revision process. They have also visited homes to identify eligible voters whose names are absent from the draft roll and collect Form 6 after checking their eligibility.

For residents who were away during a home visit, special registration camps are scheduled at polling stations on October 10 and 11. People listed as absent or migrated during the visits can also apply. Applications may be submitted through Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Booth Level Officers or designated polling stations until October 12.

The source article was corrected to clarify that the special drive is being conducted by the Chief Electoral Officer, not the State Election Commission.
