Telangana RTC union polls begin, results due October 17

Workers at the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) are voting on Friday for a union to receive official recognition. The previous election of this kind was held in 2016.

Voting is taking place across the State. The Hindu reported that 13,797 employees are on the rolls in the Greater Hyderabad Zone. Union representatives told the newspaper that polling was slow in the morning but expected participation to pick up later in the day.

Postal voting is scheduled for October 14 and 15 for employees posted away from their regular locations. The count and announcement of results are due on October 17.

The corporation's previous recognised-union election was held on July 19, 2016. The Telangana Mazdoor Union received recognition at that time.
