Safe Staff, Safe Venues receives Good Food Guide cultural-change award

The Safe Staff, Safe Venues campaign received the Cultural Change Champion award at The Age Good Food Guide awards, according to coverage published on October 12, 2026.

The Victorian Trades Hall Council initiative supports hospitality workers through education, outreach and community building. Its work covers fair pay, employment rights and responses to sexual assault and other workplace misconduct.

The council describes the project as worker-driven. Its website lists practical workshops, connections to support services, research and advocacy among the ways it assists hospitality and events workers.

Campaign organisers say their research included visits to more than 1,000 venues and over 600 survey responses across Victoria. That research was published in May, before the latest award, and forms part of the campaign's existing work.

The award recognises efforts to improve workplace culture. It does not by itself establish that wage violations or workplace violence have been eliminated, or measure the initiative's impact across the entire industry.
