Two Kuzbass residents sentenced over railway arson

Two residents received seven and eight years in a general-regime penal colony for sabotage and treason, the regional courts' press service said.
According to the court's findings, one defendant accepted an offer in 2024 to set fire to railway infrastructure for payment and recruited an acquaintance. They burned two relay cabinets at Mariinsk station in June that year.
Both were minors when the offences occurred. The press service said they received payment in cryptocurrency after supplying a video of the arson. The account did not identify the foreign state in whose interests the court found they acted.
Both defendants were convicted of sabotage and treason, and one was also found guilty of inducing the other to commit sabotage. The combined sentences were announced in the October 13 report; it does not state whether they have entered into legal force.
