At least two die in Pakala Beach bathing incident

At least two people died after strong waves swept away bathers at Pakala Beach in Andhra Pradesh. Police reported the incident on Saturday, October 10.
The Hindu, citing police officer R. Srinivasa Rao, reported that around 70 residents of Srirangapuram village had come to the beach. Seven members of the group were swept into the sea while bathing. Police and local rescuers helped three of them.
The deceased were identified as Paladugu Teja, 20, and Battula Mahesh Babu, 22. Saturday’s account listed two others as missing, with boats and drones involved in the search. The Hans India and New Indian Express also reported two deaths and the rescue operation.
Survivors were taken to hospitals for treatment. District Collector P. Rajababu and police official V. Harshavardhan Raju visited the scene, and authorities promised support for affected families. Saturday’s figures describe the initial outcome of the operation rather than a final accounting of the search.
