Two Renoir paintings stolen from French museum have been found

Two paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir stolen in September from the museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer have been found, BFMTV and international news agencies reported on October 9.
Four paintings were taken from the museum on the night of September 8. The thieves abandoned two while fleeing and escaped with the other two. The recovered works are Madame Colonna-Romano and Young Woman at the Well.
According to UPI, the intruders entered by cutting through a fence and breaking a window. The agency also reported that six suspects had been arrested. BFMTV had reported the arrests earlier, on Wednesday.
The museum is in the town where Renoir spent his final years. Its collection includes 12 of his works and personal belongings, including his easel, photographs and letters. Recovery of the paintings does not mean the theft investigation has concluded.
