US removes Venezuela’s Jorge Rodríguez from sanctions list

The US Treasury removed Venezuelan National Assembly speaker Jorge Rodríguez from its sanctions list on October 14. The change was published by the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
The list update identifies the politician by his full name, Jorge Jesús Rodríguez Gómez. Several alternative forms of his name appear in the notice and refer to the same person.
The United States imposed sanctions on Rodríguez in September 2018, during Donald Trump’s first presidential term. At the time, the Treasury accused him and other members of Venezuela’s leadership of helping consolidate Nicolás Maduro’s power.
The removal follows a separate action concerning his sister earlier in the year. OFAC published a notice removing Delcy Rodríguez’s sanctions entry on April 1, 2026.
