Carlos Baleba could make Manchester United debut against Tottenham

Carlos Baleba could make his competitive Manchester United debut against Tottenham at Old Trafford on October 10. The midfielder's involvement after an ankle injury remains a possibility rather than a confirmed selection.
The 22-year-old Cameroon international joined from Brighton in August for £65m, with another £5m in potential add-ons. An ankle injury prevented him from making his debut early in the season. The Guardian reported on October 9 that he had played in a behind-closed-doors friendly the previous week.
Baleba was first included in a matchday squad for his new club against Fulham on September 20. A possible appearance against Tottenham would mark another step after his return to the pitch. His lack of match practice could nevertheless affect how much he plays.
Michael Carrick's team won only one of their opening five league games and conceded eight goals. The main question ahead of Baleba's potential debut concerns the organisation of the midfield. Carrick used Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans together in central midfield in United's last four Premier League matches.
The club also signed Andrey Santos from Chelsea during the summer. Baleba provides another option for reshaping the midfield, but his return does not automatically determine the starting lineup. The Guardian's analysis highlights his athleticism and defensive qualities while framing his potential debut as part of addressing United's problems rather than a guarantee of an immediate improvement in results.
