Yandex begins restoring services after data centre disruption
Yandex said on October 11 that access to Alice, Search, Maps, Taxi, Mail and other services was returning gradually, although some functions remained unavailable.
The company told RBC that engineers were prioritising services used by the largest number of people. Work continued to restore full access across all regions.
The update followed a drone attack on Yandex's data centre in Vladimir overnight on October 11. The company reported damaged infrastructure and a complete shutdown of the facility, followed by disruption to online services.
Other Yandex facilities had been affected earlier in the week. A fire followed a drone attack at the Sasovo data centre in the Ryazan region on October 8, and that site's operations were halted. The company warned that some services could be unavailable.
Property platform Cian subsequently linked problems with its website and application to an incident at its infrastructure partner. Astral also warned of possible disruption to electronic reporting and document exchange.
On October 9, drones damaged the company's Kaluga data centre, putting several modules out of operation. Yandex Food reported payment difficulties for some customers that day.
