Zelenskyy appoints Taras Kachka as Ukraine's representative to EU

Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Taras Kachka as Ukraine's representative to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community. Decree No. 1034/2026 was published on October 9.

The decree provides for his appointment to both roles. RIA Novosti and European Pravda reported the president's decision, citing the published document. Kachka previously served as deputy prime minister for European integration.

After the appointment, Kachka outlined his priorities in Brussels. European Pravda reported that he identified timely receipt of European financial assistance to Ukraine as his immediate task.

He also described EU membership as the principal goal and emphasized that accession involves several levels of work. Appointing a representative is a personnel decision and does not itself complete membership negotiations.

The new position covers Ukraine's representation to both the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community, commonly known as Euratom. Both responsibilities are specified in the same presidential document.
