Dipke and two other CJP leaders released from detention in Delhi
Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were released in Delhi on October 11 after nearly 24 hours in detention, CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh said.
An executive magistrate at Delhi Cantt police station ordered their release. NDTV reported that they were required to undertake not to breach the peace for one year.
The three movement leaders were detained on October 10 after arriving in Delhi. They had travelled to join a protest demanding the resignation of India's Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls.
CJP called for further demonstrations on Sunday. Police sources cited by The Hindu said nearly 2,500 protesters were detained across the capital on Saturday, in addition to about 1,000 people taken into preventive detention before the protest.
The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights expressed concern over reports of mass detentions. India's government rejected the criticism. The release concerns three named detainees and does not establish that all those detained during the protests have been freed.
