Bastrykin says Alexeyev assassination attempt investigation is nearing completion

The investigation into the attempt on Lieutenant General Vladimir Alexeyev's life is nearing completion in relation to three suspects, Investigative Committee chairman Alexander Bastrykin told RIA Novosti.

Bastrykin said examination of physical traces from the scene, forensic assessments and other investigative work had helped identify and detain the suspects.

He discussed the case in an interview published on October 19 to mark the anniversary of the Investigative Committee's forensic service.

Participants in the criminal proceedings will shortly begin examining the case materials, he said.
