Calen Addison describes settling into life in Saint Petersburg

Canadian Shanghai Dragons defenceman Calen Addison said he had experienced no safety problems in Saint Petersburg, where his KHL club is based.
In an interview published by Championat on October 9, the player described his impressions of living in Russia. He praised Saint Petersburg and said he had visited several other cities that he also enjoyed.
The decision to move was nevertheless difficult. Addison explained that he was away from his family and had never lived in that part of the world. He framed the move as a chance to make the most of the opportunities hockey offers during his career.
He said support from those around him was helping the transition. Asked whether his family might visit, he said it was a possibility, but no decision had been made.
Addison's comments describe his personal experience of adapting to life abroad. They do not provide a general assessment of safety for everyone travelling to Russia.
