Polish police report detentions following school attack threats

Polish police reported ten detentions on the morning of October 9, mainly over threats against schools. Authorities said they had found no evidence of a nationwide organised online challenge.
Reuters reported the statements after two attacks at educational institutions in the preceding days. Detention figures continued changing through the morning, so ten was an interim count rather than the day's final total.
Police increased their presence at around 10,000 schools. The government warned against circulating misinformation that could spread fear or encourage copycat behaviour.
Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski told TVN24 there was no indication of a nationwide challenge. He did not rule out communication among individuals or copycat risks, distinguishing those possibilities from evidence of coordinated attacks.
Police described detentions following online threats and discoveries of dangerous objects. Allegations concerning those detained require investigation and do not establish guilt.
The Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime told Reuters it was examining TikTok posts associated with one attack and cooperating with the platform. Reuters could not locate the account, which appeared to have been removed. TikTok did not respond to the agency's request for comment.
