CAS expects ruling on disputed AFCON final by late November

The Court of Arbitration for Sport expects to issue its ruling on the disputed 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final at the end of November 2026. Senegal’s football federation is appealing its forfeit defeat against Morocco.

The hearing took place behind closed doors in Lausanne on 8 October. The panel is continuing its deliberations and preparing a full award with legal reasoning, a process expected to take several weeks, according to the court’s update.

During the final, Senegal’s players left the pitch on coach Pape Thiaw’s instructions after their goal was disallowed and Morocco were awarded a penalty. They returned after 15 minutes, and Morocco failed to convert the kick.

Pape Gueye scored the winning goal in extra time. Senegal were subsequently handed a 0-3 forfeit defeat, which their federation is challenging at CAS.
