Ceiling finish collapse injures 38 at sales event in Daegu

Ceiling finish material collapsed on October 10 in a Daegu building hosting a kitchenware sales event for older people. Yonhap, citing local authorities, reported 38 minor injuries, with nine people taken to hospitals.
The material fell at 10:16 a.m. on the second floor of a four-storey building. Firefighters and district officials provided the agency with details of the incident.
Sixty-six people left the building. Officials said the injuries included abrasions. None of the patients transferred to hospitals was in critical condition.
Firefighters deployed 60 personnel and 14 pieces of equipment to check the premises. Their search found no additional casualties.
President Lee Jae Myung received a briefing from the acting police chief and instructed agencies to take the necessary steps to assist people and deal with the aftermath. Authorities plan to investigate why the ceiling finish fell.
