Congress leaders back Telangana CM’s plan for martyrs’ colony at Erravelli

Congress representatives in Telangana have backed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s proposal for an Amaraveerula Colony in Erravelli for families of people who died in the statehood movement. They also demanded the recovery of land they allege was illegally occupied under the previous government.

Government Whip in the Legislative Council Addanki Dayakar and former MLC Ramulu Naik thanked Reddy for the proposal. Dayakar alleged that government land, plots assigned to poor people, Bhoodan land and Wakf properties were encroached upon under the previous administration. The report did not provide independent evidence for the allegation.

Dayakar asked what had happened to 45 acres in Survey No. 325 at Erravelli and called on former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to disclose details of his family’s landholdings. He also alleged that some properties had been acquired in the names of benami holders and later transferred to private ownership.

He said Telangana activists had been left without support and warned of another agitation if the land was not restored. Dayakar also accused former Minister K. T. Rama Rao of wielding considerable influence under the previous government and raised allegations about his assets. The report did not include responses from the politicians named.
